THE WRIGHT AMENDMENTS REQUIRE THE PRESIDENT TO INCLUDE GOALS FOR REASONABLE PRICE STABILITY IN HIS ANNUAL ECONOMIC REPORTS, BEGINNING THE THIRD YEAR AFTER ENACTMENT OF THE BILL. THE ORIGINAL SARASIN AMENDMENTS SET A SHORT-TERM GOAL OF 3% INFLATION WITHIN FIVE YEARS, A LONG-TERM GOAL OF NO INFLATION, AND PROHIBIT THE PRESIDENT FROM RECOMMENDING WAGE AND PRICE CONTROLS.
