TO AGREE TO AN AMENDMENT TO THE MODIFIED HOUSE AMENDMENT (SEE RC 610) TO SENATE AMENDMENT #82 (SEE RC 337) TO H.R. 7555, THE BILL MAKING APPROPRIATIONS TO THE DEPARTMENTS OF LABOR, AND OF HEALTH, EDUCATION, AND WELFARE FOR FISCAL 1978. THE BROOKE AMENDMENT MODIFIES THE WORDING OF THE BILL SO AS TO AUTHORIZE THE USE OF HEW FUNDS FOR ABORTIONS ONLY IF THE LIFE OF THE MOTHER WOULD BE ENDANGERED BY THE PREGNANCY "AND" IF THERE WOULD BE SEVERE AND LONG-LASTING PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO THE MOTHER IF THE PREGNANCY WERE CARRIED TO TERM.
