TO ADOPT A CLOTURE MOTION ON THE DOLE MOTION TO CONCUR ON THE HOUSE AMENDMENT TO THE SENATE AMENDMENT TO HR 5484, THE ANTI-DRUG ACT OF 1986. THIS AMENDMENT WOULD AUTHORIZE $1.7 (CONTINUED) BILLION TO STRENGTHEN FEDERAL EFFORTS TO ENCOURAGE FOREIGN COOPERATION IN ERADICATING DRUG TRAFFIC, IMPROVE ENFORCEMENT OF FEDERAL DRUG LAWS AND ENHANCE INTERDICTION OF ILLICIT DRUG SHIPMENTS, PROVIDE STRONG FEDERAL LEADERSHIP IN ESTABLISHING EFFECTIVE DRUG ABUSE PREVENTION AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS, AND EXPAND FEDERAL SUPPORT FOR DRUG ABUSE TREATMENT AND REHABILITATION EFFORTS. THE DOLE MOTION WOULD MAKE SEVERAL MODEST CHANGES IN THE HOUSE AMENDMENT. (THREE-FIFTHS OF THOSE SENATORS DULY CHOSEN AND SWORN DID NOT VOTE IN THE AFFIRMATIVE.)
